A recreation of the 1652 Fort of Good Hope will be home to a children's amusement park, offering everything from Barbie Doll World to puppet shows. Kids will also be able to enjoy go-karts and adventure golf. The fort is dwarfed by the Victoria tall-ship, which will form the backdrop for the annual GrandWest Cape of Good Hope International Tattoo.
There are also no less than two ice rinks being opened at GrandWest's "Ice Station". For the first time, Cape Town will be home to an Olympic-size ice rink which will be able to host international ice events. Immediately next to the Olympic-size rink is a mini-rink just for the little ones.

The ice-rinks are the centre-piece of our entertainment centre, which includes a fast-food court, with all your favourite outlets. Overlooking the food court is Anant Singh's new "Starz Cinemas" complex, which houses 6 cinemas, which will all offer the very latest Hollywood blockbusters.
The world-class casino evokes the richness of the Cape's maritime tradition. Proud, golden figureheads adorn the casino's walls, recalling the city's rich sea-faring history. Our smartly attired croupiers will add to the feeling of being aboard a gracious ocean liner. The casino floor will be home to 1 750 slot machines and 66 gaming tables, offering roulette, Diamond Rush Black Jack, poker and punto banco. As with all Sun International casinos, GrandWest will offer the very latest in smart-card technology. The casino will be surrounded by bars and restaurants, all open 24 hours a day.
Two hotels are also to open at GrandWest. A Cape-Dutch City Lodge Hotel will have 120 rooms. The more stately Grand Hotel will have 40 rooms and is a recreation of the historic Cape Town hotel of the same name. Both hotels offer guests the ultimate in resort luxury and are a gentle stroll from the casino floor. |
